Europe has a protein problem

Not because we lack the resources to produce protein – but because we are not making full use of the resources we already have.

Europe relies heavily on imported high-functionality protein ingredients, while large amounts of valuable protein remain underused within existing agricultural supply chains.
At the same time, demand for protein is growing.

Building a more resilient food system means strengthening Europe’s ability to produce the ingredients it needs, closer to where they are consumed.

This is the idea behind protein sovereignty.

At ExSeed, we are working to unlock one of Europe’s underused protein sources – sunflower – and turn it into a high-quality functional ingredient for human food.

The next generation of European protein may not require growing more crops.
It may require using the crops we already grow more intelligently.
